กิจกรรมเริ่มต้นด้วยการชวนเด็ก ๆ พูดคุยและตั้งคำถามจากสิ่งที่เห็น เช่น

หอยทากมีรูปร่างอย่างไร?

หอยทากมีขาหรือไม่?

หอยทากเคลื่อนที่ไปข้างหน้าได้อย่างไร?

หอยทากกินอะไรเป็นอาหาร?

ถ้ามีอาหารหลายชนิด หอยทากจะเลือกกินอะไร?

 

คำถามเหล่านี้ช่วยจุดประกายความอยากรู้อยากเห็น และเปิดโอกาสให้เด็ก ๆ ได้คิด คาดเดา และบอกเล่าความคิดเห็นของตนเองอย่างอิสระ ก่อนที่จะร่วมกันค้นหาคำตอบจากการสังเกตและการทดลองจริง

เด็ก ๆ ได้สวมบทบาทเป็น “นักวิทยาศาสตร์ตัวน้อย” ใช้แว่นขยายส่องดูตัวหอยทากอย่างใกล้ชิด ภายใต้การดูแลของคุณครู ทุกคนต่างตั้งใจสังเกตรูปร่าง เปลือก หนวด และส่วนต่าง ๆ ของหอยทาก พร้อมแบ่งปันสิ่งที่ตนเองค้นพบให้เพื่อน ๆ ฟังด้วยความตื่นเต้น

การเรียนรู้แบบ Active Learning ในครั้งนี้ เปิดโอกาสให้เด็ก ๆ ได้มีส่วนร่วมในทุกขั้นตอน ตั้งแต่การตั้งคำถาม การคาดคะเนคำตอบ การใช้อุปกรณ์ การลงมือทดลอง การสังเกตสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น ตลอดจนการพูดคุยแลกเปลี่ยนสิ่งที่ค้นพบกับเพื่อน ๆ

เพราะการเรียนรู้ที่ดีที่สุดสำหรับเด็กปฐมวัย คือการได้สัมผัสของจริง ได้ลงมือทำ ได้สนุกกับการค้นหา และได้ค้นพบคำตอบด้วยตนเอง วันนี้ “เจ้าหอยทากตัวน้อย” จึงไม่ได้เป็นเพียงสัตว์ที่เด็ก ๆ ได้เรียนรู้ แต่ยังเป็นเพื่อนตัวจิ๋วที่พาเด็ก ๆ เปิดประตูสู่โลกวิทยาศาสตร์อย่างมีความสุข

Opening Up the World of Science for Our Little Explorers

“Early Childhood Science: Learning About Snails”

Today, the kindergarten students of Baiboonlamphun School embarked on an exciting journey of discovery through an Active Learning science activity about “snails”—tiny creatures that move slowly, yet inspire so much curiosity and so many questions among the children.

The activity began with a friendly discussion that encouraged the children to observe what they saw and ask questions such as:

 

What does a snail look like?

Does a snail have legs?

How does a snail move forward?

What does a snail eat?

If different types of food are available, which one will the snail choose?

 

These questions sparked the children’s curiosity and gave them opportunities to think, make predictions, and freely express their ideas before working together to find the answers through hands-on observation and experimentation.

The children took on the role of “Little Scientists” and used magnifying glasses to observe the snails closely under their teachers’ supervision. They carefully examined the snails’ bodies, shells, tentacles, and other features, then excitedly shared their discoveries with their friends.

This Active Learning experience allowed the children to participate in every stage of the learning process—from asking questions, making predictions, and using scientific tools to conducting experiments, observing what happened, and discussing their discoveries with their classmates.

 

The best way for young children to learn is through real-life experiences—touching, exploring, having fun, and discovering answers for themselves. Today, the “little snails” were more than simply animals for the children to study; they were tiny friends who happily opened the door to the fascinating world of science.
